Infosys (NYSE: INFY) has unveiled Topaz Fabric, a composable stack of AI agents, models, and services designed to help enterprises unify and accelerate their AI-driven IT operations while maintaining a human in the loop according to a press release. The platform positions Infosys as one of the first major consultancies to launch a fully integrated AI agent fabric aimed at transforming enterprise service delivery.

A New Layer for Enterprise AI

Infosys describes Topaz Fabric as a “stack of layered, open, and interoperable data infrastructure” that gives businesses access to modular AI capabilities across IT operations, cybersecurity, quality engineering, and transformation services.

In essence, the offering blends AI-as-a-service with services-as-software, allowing clients to plug in or compose AI-driven components without locking into a single vendor ecosystem.

The platform includes over 50 prebuilt AI agents, each specialized for IT operations, and comes with out-of-the-box integration across nine major enterprise platforms.

How It Works

Infosys Topaz Fabric integrates human-in-the-loop AI agents that execute workflows, automate repetitive tasks, and augment decision-making. These agents are designed to operate autonomously for standard functions while allowing human oversight for complex or high-risk activities.

A typical use case: an AI HR agent that can respond to travel-related queries via chat or email — and even generate the corresponding travel request automatically — all under human supervision for compliance and accuracy.

This approach emphasizes human-guided automation rather than full autonomy, reflecting the broader enterprise trend toward controllable, auditable AI deployment.

“Topaz Fabric brings clients the resilience that comes from combining AI’s transformative power with human creativity,” said Satish H.C., Chief Delivery Officer at Infosys. “It lets enterprises reimagine their service stack as a faster, more intelligent engine that matches the pace of business.”

Infosys Topaz Fabric reflects a growing pattern in enterprise AI: modularity first, autonomy later. Rather than promising a fully self-operating AI system, Infosys is focusing on building an interoperable foundation where AI agents can slot into existing IT workflows.

It’s an interesting move and we've seen that physical AI companies take a similar route with tele-operating. With reports of a 95% failure rate for AI enterprise pilots there are clear signs that full automation of processes isn't here yet.

For now, Topaz Fabric looks like a realistic step forward, a platform that blends enterprise pragmatism with AI ambition. Whether Infosys can turn it into a competitive differentiator will depend on how seamlessly these AI agents integrate into complex global IT ecosystems.
